The Torah — its 54 portions

The Five Books of Moses are read aloud in the synagogue over a year, divided into 54 weekly portions (parashot) — the living, calendrical structure of the Torah, completed and begun again each autumn on Simchat Torah. Each card gives a portion's main message; the legend filters by book. For how the Torah was composed, canonized and copied, see the Torah — corpus and transmission.
