Vertical began with a confidential conversation. A manufacturing leader at a large aeronautics company, previously its head of finance controlling, came to the OSS office to talk about capital expenditure — in her company about 45% of total sales every year — and described the process of budgeting, approving and tracking it as, in her words, a sh*tshow.
Vertical was co-built at OSS Ventures in 2022 to give industrial finance and operations teams a proper system for planning and following capex, instead of spreadsheets and email chains.
